Trimethylsilyl bromide (TMSBr) is mainly used as a strong silylating and brominating reagent in organic synthesis. It is widely applied for cleavage of ethers and esters, deprotection of functional groups, and conversion of alcohols or carboxylates into bromides, especially in pharmaceutical and fine chemical manufacturing.
